JonnyG from The Agency HQ was at SOE's Fan Faire and talked to Hal Milton (lead designer), Steve Kramer (PvP designer), and Lorien Gremore (buildmistress). The interview transcripts reveal some new information about The Agency.

8MB sure seemed like a hefty memory card when the Playstation2 came out. "I'll
only need one!" Famous last words. Instead of paying $30 for another teeny 8MB
card at my local retailer, I found a 64MB PS2 memory card for that price at Play-Asia.
With game saves pushing the 1MB mark on many titles--I am looking at you, Champions
of Norrath--8MB just wasn't enough anymore. (Play-Asia is also a good
place to get cheap UMD
cases for your PSP games.)

There must be some real fans of the old classic X-COM: UFO Defense at SMK Software, because they have cooked up a clone for the PocketPC. They have made several earlier releases, but they were more tech demos than full games. The latest version, however, seems to be a complete X-COM clone remixed for the PocketPC platform. (Looks like they just lifted the art assets from the original game, but I won't tell if you won't.)
It's still rough, but it is very promising. It's running great on my Dell Axim x50v, though it seems to be incompatible with the Enhanced GAPI Driver v 1.11.

I posted previously
on Rebelstar: Tactical Command, a Gameboy Advance title that looks
like X-COM lite. There is more information available now at Gamespot.

Looks like the "makers of X-Com" are creating a turn-based tactics game for the Gameboy Advance. Check out the pics at IGN or the preview text at Planet GameCube. Release: "late summer." Published by Namco. I can hardly wait to light more aliens on fire.

I have posted an updated designer's diagram (210k) for the Belkin Nostromo Speedpad n52. This one has much more room to write notes, and is also a PDF form.
I have also greatly improved my Speedpad n52 config file for UT2004. Get the new archive (with visual key reference) here.
The Belkin Speedpad n52 is a game controller intended to take the place of your keyboard for first-person shooters. I had always been curious about it, but when Buy.com put it on sale for about half price I decided to try it out. You can Google for reviews, but in short I will say it is cool and worth the $26 if you like FPS games. (Get one at Amazon)
I needed a form to make notes on while I was customizing the n52, so I ripped & reformatted graphics from the manual. You can find a printable version in the Files section.

It's been known for a while that the next new pinball game from Stern would be based on the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! license. The designer is Pat Lawlor, who did the famous Twilight Zone table of '93.
Anyway, a picture of the playfield hit the net today. The theme doesn't grab me, but the playfield seems to have a lot going on and Stern is on a roll so I'll give it a chance. We should get test reports in March...
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."
